Description/Background

BIS is a multi-national, co-educational school offering a British style curriculum to students aged between 11 and 18 years. It serves both the Nigerian local community and expatriates looking for a British education within an international setting. The school opened in September 2001 and occupies a large and attractive thirty acre site on Victoria Island in the heart of the city. It is both day and boarding with boarders representing approximately one third of the current school population. Weekly boarding is offered alongside full boarding and we offer a family atmosphere in which all students are known and valued, with class sizes never going above twenty. Students are prepared for the IGCSE and Advanced Level courses of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) with enviable success in terms of results. We are committed to educating the whole child so that our students become rounded citizens of the future world. All are encouraged to take part in a wide range of extra-curricular activities whether sporting, cultural or creative. Admission Requirements

We look at two factors when placing students at BIS, age and the number of years of education. Applicants for Year 7 must be at least 11 years old in the year they wish to join and to have completed 6 years of primary education.

 

Admission Procedures

The Admission process to BIS is as follows: Step 1: Complete the application All applicants must submit the following information and payment in order to complete an application for admission to BIS. 1. A completed application form with one passport photo attached 2. A copy of the applicant's birth certificate 3. A copy of the applicant's last school report 4. The payment of the 20,000 Naira Application fee Note 1: The Registrar's Office will not accept applications from applicants who do not meet the age and educational criteria stated above. Note 2: The Registrar's Office will not accept an incomplete application. All the application documents are required before the application can proceed to Step 2. Step 2: Assessment All applicants to BIS must complete an entrance exam. Students applying for Year 7 - 9 are assessed in English, Maths and Verbal reasoning. Students applying for Year 10 are assessed in English and Maths. Contact the Registrar directly if you wish to apply to Year 12. All students are required to sit the entrance examinations at BIS. The next examinations will take place on the following dates : 1. 21st January 2017 2. 4th February, 2017 3. 18th March, 2017 Special arrangements for the entrance examinations may be made for Overseas applicants. Step 3: Admission Decision: The decision to admit students to BIS is based on the results of the entrance exams and previous academic achievements, with the final decision made by Principal. Candidates maybe requested for interview with the Principal to support their application. The final admission decision will be conveyed to the parents, by the Registrar's Office, as soon as possible. Step 4: Once you are admitted....... To secure a place at BIS parents are requested to submit the acceptance form and the acceptance fee.
