Admission Procedures

Registration and payment of N 40, 000 - does not guarantee admission. It does, however, allow us to process your application. Admissions go on throughout the year as at when space is available. we will then invite you for an assessment. We send out regret letters when a child fails to meet the requirement of our assessment. Our admission process follows this order of priority: firstly, our sponsors, families whose siblings are already at CIS and others. Hence the school is unable to give out waiting list numbers to parents. We, however, wish to reassure you that we do try to follow the list as closely as possible. No name goes off our records, until parents themselves tell us to do so. If for any reason you wish to defer admission, you may do so and we move you to the bottom of the next year’s list. There is no guarantee that your admission will be subject to space and assessment. At CIS we follow the National Curriculum of England, and hence admission is age related. As of 31st August of the admission year, a child should have completed his/her birthday, and passed the assessment test to be put in his/her year group. In cases where a child has been assessed for a particular class but doesn’t meet the requirements, it is sometimes suggested that the child is placed in the class below, subject to his/her best interests and space permitting. Distribution of classes, class teachers and class rooms is solely the prerogative of the school. Much as we would like to, it is not always possible to accommodate requests in these matters. Having a back-up school is always advisable and is solely the parent’s responsibility.

History

CIS is owned by an entity by the name of Keystage Educational Services Limited. Children’s International School is a multi-national co-educational English Curriculum School, catering for pupils from ages 2½ to age 16 leading to the IGCSE examination. The teaching faculty reflects the international orientation of the school and is adept at integrating students coming from a wide variety of cultural and academic backgrounds. At CIS, we are committed to maintaining a high standard of teaching and learning. CIS is in its thirteenth year of existence having started operations in September 2003. On day 1, we started with 45 pupils and about 15 staff. By the end of the first year, we had grown to 75 pupils. The School has enjoyed tremendous growth over the years and presently has 570 pupils (462 in Junior and 108 in the Senior School). Its staff strength has since grown to 180 staff spread across the Academic, Administrative, Admissions, Human Resources, Accounts and ICT departments. CIS has maintained a low profile, deliberately and has never done any form of marketing or advertising. Achieved growth has been purely through word of mouth. However, we are working to be the reference point in Education delivery in Nigeria and beyond. Already, our products are already speaking for us as our children win International Awards and Scholarships year in year out. We believe we will do more to make them more relevant to the Society.
