IIS provides a broad, international curriculum that enables its students to continue their education anywhere in the world, while preparing them to live in harmony with others.
The Pre-school and Junior School sections of the school follow the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the school is an authorized IB World School. In the Senior School Section, the students follow the IGCSE curriculum.
Children are admitted in September every year. If children are moving from another country or school, they can be admitted at any time in the school year provided there is a space in the class of their age group. There is an admission limit of 16 students per class in Pre-School and Junior School and 20 students per class in Senior School.
All prospective children from age 4 are assessed according to a set of pre-determined criteria (literacy, numeracy and comprehension skills) to determine the student’s ability and aptitude. Depending on the outcome of the assessment and space availability, an admission into IIS is offered. Once a child is offered admission into IIS, the parent/guardian needs to:
Pay a registration fee which entitles them to a registration pack containing all registration forms, list of requirements, curriculum information, parents’ handbook and IIS Year Book from the preceding year.
Complete and return the registration forms with photocopies of previous school reports/final assessments, photocopies of passport or birth certificate, vaccination card and 2 passport photographs.
Collect a letter of admission for his/ her child(ren) from the School Office
Pay school fees and other required fees.
For many years there has been a need for a high-quality, independent international school in Ibadan to serve both the local and expatriate communities. The Ibadan International School was founded in 2003 by the Zard Foundation to fill this niche.
IIS provides a broad, international curriculum that enables its students to continue their education anywhere in the world, while prepping them to live in harmony with others. The Pre-school and Junior School sections of the school follow the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the school currently has IB candidate status. In the Senior School Section, the students follow the IGCSE curriculum. All the students are also involved in a variety of activities which take them out of the classroom and promote learning in real-life situations. A range of optional after-school activities are provided each afternoon, including Dance/Drama, Art, Swimming, Piano lessons, Chess, Football, Bead-making, Cookery, Taekwando and a variety of others. The children are also involved in community service projects which aim to develop them into responsible citizens, aware of their environment and others around them.
IIS is built around a beautiful colonial-style building. The school is equipped with a well resourced Library, a specialist Art Room, Music Room, ICT and Science Laboratory. The School field is used for general sporting activities and the school has access to a tennis court, a basket-ball court and two private swimming pools nearby.
