Hillcrest School, Jos


Hillcrest is a K-12th grade International Christian School with an American curriculum. The school was founded in 1942 as a boarding school for missionary children. Today a significant number of children come from Nigeria, but a good number come from other countries.


The school is owned and operated by eight missions’/church organizations. Hillcrest is divided into three schools, each with a principal. Elementary School is Kindergarten to 5th grade. Middle School is 6th to 8th grade and High School is 9th to12th grade.


In their junior and senior years' students may elect to take several AP classes. Annually almost all graduates are admitted into North American universities. Hillcrest is situated in the city of Jos on a 4,300-foot-high plateau. Jos is located in the central part of Nigeria.


Temperatures are mild all year round; somewhat similar to that of Southern California except that it rains more in Jos. Hillcrest’s primary purpose is to provide a Christian perspective in the context of education while encouraging students towards a genuine, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Infant Jesus Academy, Jos North


Infant Jesus Academy was established on the 6th of September 1996. Pastor Innocent Uzoji founded the academy as a humanitarian aid approach to missions. He worked with Assemblies of God Church Nigeria and was actively involved in church planting.


With a little over twenty pupils, the school took off academic activities at the nursery and primary school cadre. In 1998, the academy received government’s approval to offer education at the nursery and primary school levels. The secondary arm of the school kicked off formally in the year 2000 and by 2002, it received government’s approval.


The Academy graduated its first set of SS3 students in 2006, ten years after its establishment. The focus is to provide qualitative and affordable education to the less privileged in the society, hence the low cost of tuition fees.

Baptist High School, Jos


Baptist High School, Jos was started in an old miner's camp in the Northside of Jos, near a village called Yelwa on February 14th, 1961. The school started with three members of staff and thirty students. The members of staff were Mr. W.A. Cowley as Principal, Mr. S.S. Ayanda as Food Master, and Mr. E.A. Areo as HouseMaster. 


There were many difficulties faced, such as lack of water, proper lights and adequate accommodation. The school moved to its present site in 1962. One of the classrooms was used as dormitory and electricity was supplied to the school. After the first term in 1962, the first dormitory, Naraguta House, was ready for use.


In November of 1963, the school was officially opened by the Acting Regional Minister of Education, Honourable Mr. S.S. Ajayi. By November of 1963, other buildings were completed. Kent Academy, Jos


Kent Academy is a Christian, boarding primary school and is located in Miango, about 22 kilometres from Jos, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Nigeria. It was named after one of the early SIM missionaries, Thomas Kent.


Located on the plateau, the climate is mild and conducive to learning. The environment is serene. The area is surrounded by rocks and hills with a beautiful and natural landscape.


The school’s resolve in the nearest future is to restart erstwhile middle school (7th to 9th grades) and possibly upgrade to the 12th grade thereafter.
