As the students climb up on the academic ladder, studies do not only focus on results or content related to the curriculum, but also vital concepts of education. The child imbibes this through a gradual introduction to various activities and sequenced lessons from different domains. This is made possible by indirectly yet closely paying attention to the objective of forming a functional personality in the society generally.

Alsyd Academy was registered as a Limited Liability Company on April 2nd, 1976 with Mrs Theodora Alberta Quartey and Mr Daniel Sackey Quarcoopome as Directors. On June 1st, 1977, the Ghana Education Service (G.E.S.) granted Alsyd Academy a Provisional Authority to commence school under registration number PA/21/77. School formally started on 27th September, 1977, with Mrs. Alberta Quartey as founding headmistress and proprietress and Mrs. Dorma Tettey as the Class 1 teacher. The pupil population was made up of 3 boys and 6 girls. In 1984 the school presented its first batch of candidates for the Common Entrance Examination and had a 100% pass. This excellent performance in examinations has been maintained till date in spite of the changing phases of the education system alongside the growing population of the school. On March 24, 1990, the sod was cut to start construction of the Junior High School (J.H.S.) section; and on 8th October, 1991, classes commenced for 28 pupils in J.H.S. 1. The school presented 39 candidates to the Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E.) for the first time in 1994 and obtained very impressive results. This performance has been sustained over the years, with every child gaining admission to his/her first choice school. In 2006, the school started implementing its 5-year development programme, which aims, among others, to introduce innovations including the expansion of school infrastructure to accommodate a second stream from Kindergarten (KG) to Junior High School. The first phase of the introduction of a second stream started in September 2006 when 108 children were offered admission to the Kindergarten. The second phase took off in September 2007 for classes 1, 2 and 3. On 24th September, 2009, an Activity Room was furnished with learning aids to be used by the Kindergarten. The Information and Resource Centre (library) and Information and Communications Technology (I.C.T.) Laboratory building was constructed in 2008. For the mere sake of updating records, Alsyd came first out of the 494 basic public and private schools registered under the Accra Metropolitan Education Directorate in the 2010 B.E.C.E. and this is not the first time.
