Barlen International School was incorporated in the year 2012 as a result of an ongoing vision to contribute to the growth and advancement of society through careful cultivation of the minds of the younger generation. The word ‘Barlen’ is of German origin and was used to describe a group of influential people involved with social, economic and political affairs. This was thought to be a fitting name as the Institution is concerned with raising well rounded individuals who will in time contribute to the advancement of social, economic and political affairs. The School was born out of a passion for the love and care of children, as well as to bridge the gap between the high and low income families whilst providing quality education. 14 September 2015 began the first academic session in the School’s history at Eliowhani, Rivers State, Nigeria. Beginning with 17 pupils in classes ranging from pre nursery to primary 3; the School now has over 100 students with classes ranging from pre nursery to primary 5. The Schools colours are White, Charcoal Ash and red. The School focuses on the many aspects of education and prioritizes the equal development of the mental, spiritual, academic and physical life of its pupils. With an amazing school building that contains facilities like; well-furnished classrooms with low number of students to enable participation and adequate focus is given to each pupil; there is also a big organic grass field with various playtime equipment’s to enable the pupils relax and recharge; there is a functional and efficient sick bay with nurses and close proximity to hospitals; as well as a number of other diverse facilities.
