Do-estdot Special Needs unit comprises of two segments which are the Hearing Impaired and Special Needs children (Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Learning Disabilities etc.). I feel truly privileged to lead such a wonderful school and to have the opportunity of ensuring that each child receives the best possible education in their formative years. As a school, we have high expectations of our pupils and set challenging targets for them as every child is encouraged to reach their full potentials. We also support our pupils to discover their talents and share them with others. They are encouraged to be responsible for their own learning and reflect on their progress. We also offer quality special education, vocational training, musical training, speech and language therapy physiotherapy for our pupils. Our staffs are dedicated, hardworking and experienced. We provide an excellent, safe, calm and caring learning atmosphere in which they thrive, flourish and are happy to learn. As parents to two hearing-impaired children we experienced, first-hand, the discriminatory level of education that was available to students like our children. Uncomfortable with the quality of education available to our daughters, my husband and I decided to build a school offered quality education without regard to how a student learns or perceives the world around them. In this effort, we have graduated several students who have gone on to contribute to society. My first daughter is completing her second masters in special education and my second is a Civil Engineer with the National Institute of Health. Last year, a few of our hearing-impaired students gained admission to the prestigious Rochester Institute of Technology, NY. Of all our accomplishments, transforming the way our students see the world around them, one where they have the power to change and re-write their destiny, has been the most rewarding.
