The dream for a school started informally with holiday lessons organized for pupils in the Nursery and primary classes. Thereafter, in September 2001 a formal institution of learning with a wooden structure was founded with less than (10) children from KG1-3 and Primary 1-3. With the help of God, the school experienced a geometric rise in its population and by the year 2003, the classes had increased to Primary five. On the 4th of October, 2002, there was a letter of approval written by the school to the Ministry of Education, Edo State. In reaction to this, the Ministry sent a group of inspectors led by Rev. Omoregbe in 2005. When the team arrived and saw the sophisticated that were put in place for effective teaching and learning, it recommended that the form for the approval of a secondary school should be procured. That same year marked the inception of the secondary school with less than fifteen students and eight teachers. In 2007, March 2nd precisely, the Ministry of Education gave the approval for the running of the school with the name Intellect Primary School as a sequel to this the Secondary Sectionwas eventually approved on the 22nd of July 2011, as a Centre for West African Examination Council (WAEC). Nevertheless, in the midst of these landmark achievements, there were several challenges. The first set of pupils that were admitted could neither read nor write. To help them improve, the basic rudiments of letter/sound identification and pronunciation was taught and there was gradual improvement. Futhermore, skill acquisition programs such as computer training poultry rearing, sewing and musical trainings were incoporated into the activities of the school. These trainings actually paid off as they stimulated the interest of pupils/students. The establishment of the secondary school also resulted in the need to increase the number of classes and teachers. However, the school continued to sail forward with the same students who eventually made it to SS3. In 2012, the first SSCE of the school was written with eleven students sitting for it. In 2013 there were fourteen students who sat for the examination. Amongst the earlier poineers of this great institution are Emmanuel Idehen who studied Mechanical Engineering in UNIBEN and graduated successfully in 2017, Hamza Garba, Studied Electrical Engineering UNIBEN, Emegbusin Faith, AAU, Jeffery a pivotal student in Afe Babalola University and a host of others till date. IGS is renowed for its high moral standard and integrity especially as it concerns examination malpractice. The propelling force for the establishment of the school was, is and will always be a burning desire in the heart of the proprietor to inculcate moral values into our teeming youths in Edo State and its environs.
