Kith and Kin Educational Schools started with its Nursery and Primary School on 17th July, 1997 at the temporary site situated at 56, Ibeshe Road, Owode, Ikorodu, Lagos, Nigeria. The School founded by Chief & Chief (Mrs) Kaoli O. Olusanya started with a modest enrolment figure of nineteen pupils and five teachers. Kith & Kin was primarily founded to cater for the intellectual promotion and development of the under-privileged children in the immediate environs of Ibeshe. A lot of developmental changes have since occurred in the school. The Nursery and Primary arm of the school moved to the ultra-modern permanent site in October 2000. The school can now boast of standard airy classrooms, a well-equipped Information & Communication Technology Room with internet facilities, library, Junior Science laboratory, excellent sporting and recreational facilities, toy rooms for toddlers, hygienic catering services, good and efficient transportation system, and an overall ideal learning environment. The primary goal of the founder was to set high standards that can empower children to compete globally. The academic programme is structured in such a way as to integrate good communication skills, exposure to the outside world, leadership training; Information Technology; and 21st century classroom practice To further augment this vision for our pupils, the secondary school, Kith & Kin International College, was founded in September, 2001. The motto of this arm of the group is “Be Resourceful”. Here the students are taught to take the skill sets acquired during the primary school years to a higher level. In line with the Lagos State Government’s directive, the Nursery and Primary arm of the Schools applied for the State Ministry of Education’s approval/ license and was successful. The approval was granted on 15th November, 2002. The International College has also been approved. On the 10th January, 2011 another school was added to the brand of KKES, Kith & Kin Montessori. Kith & Kin Montessori School was founded to meet the yearning of parents, who wanted the brand of Kith & Kin closer to their homes as well as desire for a different concept. In furtherance to the expansion of the vision of the founder, of being a player in the emerging global economy, Kith & Kin Academy was conceptualised in 2012 and has since started operating and has earned accreditation as Cambridge Centre. The first set of students wrote their IGCSE examination in the school in November, 2014. We hope to nurture this arm to an enviable position to offer 6th grade curriculum (GCE A’ Level and university foundation programme).
