History of Laurels Academy
Some time in 1978, the Proprietress Dr. (Mrs.) Olufunke A. Adegbeyeni, had the inspiration to start a school. Initially, she thought that the idea was for a nursery/primary school to be sited somewhere in Ikeja. However, she did not give serious thought and prayers to this idea and so, it remained a mere idea that she nursed once in a while. With such occasional meditation, though, the idea concretised into the setting up of a continuing education centre known as Laurels Education Centre in November, 1988. Later, the Lord expanded the vision to that of a model secondary school offering excellent facilities and utilising the services of dedicated and highly qualified teachers for the education of young boys and girls who will make a difference to their world. This led to the establishment of Laurels Academy on 15 September, 1997.
