Notre Dame is a girls school for girls ages 9 and above. It is a home for all. Since its existence for over 20 years now, in an environment that offers conducive atmosphere for learning, Notre Dame has recreated women of integrity, women who can stand the test of time in our contemporary world and will continue to do more. In October 1994, the bishop appointed a four man committee to carry out a feasibility study on opening a Diocesan Secondary School for girls. On 25th October the same year, the committee submitted its report which Urua Edet Obo was recommended as a site. In 1995, there was an approval of the school plan/project by Bishop C.A Etokudoh, and the building blessing of the convent, classroom block and dining hall (multipurpose) kicked off immediately. In 1995, the first meeting of some members from the Ministry of Education with the Ad hoc committee took place in the school premises (Urua Edet Obo). Entrance Examination (pioneer) took place on the 24th August, 1995. Notre Dame Girls Secondary School was officially commissioned on the 10th October, 1995.
