History of Pentecost School Madina

The idea of a school started as a seed thought in the mind of Mrs. Agatha Amoah in 1985. She operated a Day Care Centre in the compound of her University rented premises with an initial enrolment of five kids. Within two months the number increased to thirty. The landlord then objected to the use of his property for a Day Care Centre. The search for a suitable accommodation began. They moved the premises from one compound to another until early 1986 when the chiefs of Mmempeasem granted them the land on which the school is sited. Construction of the classrooms began in 1987 and the long classroom was completed in July that year. The first batch of forty kids moved in, in September, 1987. In 1988 the centre was registered with the Department of Social Welfare. The parents requested that the centre be developed in a school. In 1992, management gave in to this pressure and in addition, classrooms were put up to start classes one and two. The proprietor decided to change management. The PENTSOS (Social Services wing of the Church) committee chaired by Elder E. A. Boate, having bought the idea, completed the necessary groundwork and recommended for the takeover of the school to the Executive Council. The big men subsequently went ahead with negotiations. In August 1994, the proprietor handed over the reins of administration to the Church of Pentecost. Preliminary plans spearheaded by the Manager of Pentecost Schools, Elder Johnson Adom Yeboah, Rev. J. Osei Amanianpong, the then resident District Pastor, Mrs. Felicia Bampoe who became the first Headmistress of the school were put in place. On the 11th of October 1994, the Church of Pentecost officially opened the doors of the Arm of the Lord School under a new name: Pentecost Preparatory School, to the public. The Day-Care department was phased out leaving the Kindergarten and Primary Departments. I, Mrs. Felicia Bampoe, a Deputy Manageress of the Head Office (C.O.P) and a Deaconess of the Church took over from Mr. Joseph Dorgbadzi this day the 11th of October 1994 the administration of the school as the first Headmistress of Pentecost Preparatory School.
