It was through the brilliant idea of His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. A.O Makozi, the Catholic Bishop Emeritus of Port Harcourt Diocese, that this pride and noble Catholic High School was established and officially opened on 25th of September 2006 as a Junior Secondary School in response to the New Basic System of Education declared by the Government Federal of Nigeria. St. Mary’s Catholic Model High School is situated at No. 33 Harbour Road Port Harcourt, Rivers State. St. Mary’s Catholic Model High School is a model as its name indicates. The proprietor is His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. C.A. Etukudoh –Catholic Bishop of Port Harcourt Diocese. Rev. Dr. Monsignor Agu is the Diocesan Education Coordinator while Mrs. Joe Ogolo is the assistant coordinators. Rev. Dr. Monsignor Emmanuel Maru is the school Manager, Rev. Dr Monsignor Cyprian Onwuli is the Vicar General of the Diocese. Rev Father Francis Namaco is our Confessor while Rev. Father Donatus Ukulor is the Parish Priest. The school has been blessed with five good spiritual and dedicated chaplains who take care of the spiritual and moral welfare of the students. The first school chaplain was Rt. Rev. Monsignor Peter Ohochukwu, the second was Rev. Father Joseph Abah, the third was Rev. Father Leo Eke, fouth was Rev. Father Poroma and the fifth is Rev. Father Felix Odu who is with us presently. We thank our two Bishops – Most Rev. Dr C.A. Etukudoh and Most Rev. Dr. A.O. Makozi, Bishop Emeritus for sending us these school chaplains to take care of the spiritual and moral aspects of these children because education without moral is bankrupt. Th eschool is managed by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ. The patron Saint of this school is Mary the Mother of Jesus and our Mother also. It is under her protection that we entrust all our educational and other activities of this institutions.
