The school has two sections – the Primary and the College sections. The Primary section consists of Creche, Pre-Nursery, Nursery one to three, and Basic one to Basic six (Primary one to six). The College consists of Basic seven to Basic nine (J.S one to three) and Senior Secondary School one to six (S.S. one to three).

Founded in 1998 and located on Plot 22, Off Gado-Nasko Road, Kubwa, Abuja., Shining Star Nursery and Primary School is unargueably one of the leading schools in the F.C.T. This can be attested to by its victories at different competitions, that have continued to put to test the best schools in the F.C.T., over the years. In the history of the development of great citadels of learning looms the words ‘Shining Star College’. Just like the stars dominate the sky with their glow so does Shining Star College dominate the world of education in the F.C.T. It will interest you to know that the birth of the college originated from parents who had had a taste of and are still enjoying our unique brand – the Shining Star brand. Located in the same premises as the Nursery and Primary School, Shining Star College commenced, officially, on 6th October 2003., as a Day school with a staff strength of fourteen teachers and four non-academic staff, and four students.
