We run an inclusive educational program in three key stages: Pre-School, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Our Pre-school starts when a child is admitted into Toddlers’ Class, the minimum age requirement being 18 months. The pupil then progresses to Reception 1, followed by Reception 2. At the end of Reception 2 when the pupils are due to be promoted to Pre-Elementary, they should be able to read, write and identify 1-300 and read two, three and four-letter words, having learnt the principles of blending sounds to form words. After Pre-School, we have Key Stage 1, which comprises Grade 1-3. The minimum age requirement for a child to get admitted into Grade 1 is 5 years. On completing Key Stage 2, which comprises of Grade 4-5, at the end of this stage, external examinations are taken. Our pupils take National Common Entrance Examination, (conducted by National Examinations Council, NECO) into unity schools around the country. They also sit Lagos State placement examination conducted by Lagos State Examination Board.

‘And if education is always to be conceived along the same antiquated lines of a mere transmission of knowledge, there is little to be hoped from it in the bettering of man’s future. For what is the use of transmitting knowledge if the individual’s total development lags behind?’ wrote Maria Montessori, the famous Italian physician and educator. Hence, Kingsmead Elementary School sprang up like a knight shining armour on 1st August, 2016 with a mindset to make a difference, redefine quality education and set a new paradigm in the delivery of world-class educational services. Located at 9, Hon. N. S. Sholaja Street, off Erunwen Road, the School overlooks Awolowo Road and its surrounding features which gives a view of the scenic beauty of nature in the neighbourhood. Here, standard, sublimity, skill and strive for excellence, find their perfect meanings in a transformational union. In pursuit of our noble educational objectives, Kingsmead College, which is located at 6-8, Kingsmead Street, off Erunwen Road, was established in July, 2017 to provide qualitative educational opportunity for increasing number of primary school leavers within and outside Nigeria who desire academic excellence. It is a purpose – built college and is located in a serene and conducive environment devoid of distractions of a bustling city life. It is focused on students’ needs for proper learning and sound upbringing. It has supporting standard facilities and staff with passion for human development. The idea that resulted in the establishment of Kingsmead College, Ikorodu was based on the demand of the parents of Kingsmead Primary School(The Elementary wing of the Kingsmead Educational Trust) and the immediate community for a sound secondary education comparable with what is obtained in the global Educational community. More importantly, it came as a result of an objective assessment of the future education needs of the Nigerian State. Kingsmead College, Ikorodu opened its doors for academic activities in July, 2017. All necessary facilities required for a fulfilling basic and secondary education have been in place prior to the opening ceremony. Our pupils and students constitute our centrepiece and our approach is the recognition of each child’s uniqueness and helping them to develop their innate skills for cognitive growth, psychomotor development, advanced emotional intelligence and consequently, self-realization. This is what underlies our adoption of differentiated teaching and learning. KINGSMEAD SCHOOLS|ELEMENTARY|PRE-SCHOOL We are driven by a vision to be outstanding value-based schools striving for excellence and enabling our children to achieve greatness. Our mission is to inspire children to achieve the highest standard of intellectual and personal development through a stimulating and comprehensive programme. We meet the educational needs of children, aged three months-sixteen years, irrespective of their educational, national, ethnic or religious backgrounds. We are aware that an unskilled scholar will apparently skew away from the path of sound scholarship, so we constantly engage our educators in continual professional development. Our approach is to train our trainers until they become trainers’ trainers. We run a hybrid of the Nigerian and the British curricula with our pre-school section thriving on the Montessori Method of teaching. In our elementary and secondary section, the role of the Class Teacher is supervisory. Subject teachers deploy their expertise in teaching the pupils and students in the overall interest of thoroughness. To do this effectively, resources for twenty-first century tutelage are made readily accessible. And it is worthy of note that we give our pupils and students the needed global exposure to thrive. They are frequently exposed to state-wide, national and international competitions and certifiable courses. It is our dream to welcome them as they are and later release them to society as ‘global citizens’, equipped to make a difference and positioned to shine. To ease the movement of our pupils and students to and from school, we run transport services for interested parents. Our new air-conditioned buses, trained drivers and their assistants make the journey to and from Kingsmead Schools a daily delight. We also provide lunch, after-school care and basic medical services to make the package total. We have also accorded security its primacy, considering its importance in a good academic community. Besides engaging a renowned security firm for its professional services, we monitor everything going on in every classroom and the premises with CCTV cameras. The understanding of each child is our approach and the progressive realization of their potentials is our goal. Kingsmead Schools…. Learning is life!
